The current legal framework in Brazil allows for the incorporation of a gender perspective in the justice system. The Federal Constitution prohibits discrimination and the country is a signatory to international instruments on women’s human rights. However, it seems that this legal framework has not been sufficient to guarantee a gender perspective in the justice system. From thesurvey of updated female data on the profile of the various legal careers (judicial, state attorney and lawyers), with registration of gender, color/race/ethnicity, we argue that there is a deficit of representation in these careers and, although in some Few careers places the number of women and men on par, as the most prestigious and powerful roles are done by men. In the upper courts, the political appointment system favors white masculinity. The gender gap is an even larger mass mining that controls the rise of women, especially black women.
