Editorial Board and Editorial Team

IGAL has an Editorial Board and an Editorial Team. 

The Editorial Board proposes editorial guidelines and criteria for the contributions, suggests experts as peer reviewers, ensures adherence to strict quality standards and supports the dissemination, visibility and indexing of the Journal. 

The Editorial Team guides the operation of the Journal, ensures the quality of the publication, manages the editorial process and replies to the queries submitted by authors, coordinates the review process and the indexing and dissemination of the Journal. 

 

Editorial Board

Gladys Luisa Acosta-Vargas, Master’s degree studies in Sociology at the Sorbonne, France. Her research focuses on indigenous women, gender equality, violence against women, among others.

Silvina Álvarez Medina, Ph.D. in Law Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Her research focuses on human rights, women's rights, reproductive rights, personal autonomy, multiculturalism, among others.

Kerry Carrington, Ph.D. in Sociology Macquarie University. Research Professor at the QUT Centre for Justice. Her research focuses on criminology, institutional gender-based violence in penitentiaries, youth justice and girls' violence, global justice and human rights, among others.

Rebecca Cook, J.S.D. Columbia University, School of Law. Professor Emerita in the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Medicine and the Joint Centre for Bioethics at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on sexual and reproductive rights and women’s rights, among others.

Josep Ferrer-Riba, Ph.D. in Law from the University of Barcelona. Professor of private law at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His research focuses on family law, succession law, and the law of nonprofit organizations.

Daphne Gilbert, LL.M. Yale Law School. Associate Professor at University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. Her research focuses on equality rights, reproductive rights and sexual violence, among others.

Yamila González-Ferrer, Ph.D., University of Havana. Professor at School of Law, University of Havana and CEDAW member. Her research focuses on family law, gender and law, sexual diversities, among others.

Berta Esperanza Hernández-Truyol, LL.M. New York University School of Law. Professor at University of Florida Levin College of Law. Her research focuses on gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, language, and other vulnerabilities as well as their interconnections.

Prabha Kotiswaran, SJD Harvard Law School. Professor of Law and Social Justice at King’s College London. Her research focuses on criminal law, transnational criminal law, feminist legal studies and sociology of law.

Lena Lavinas, Ph.D. University of Paris. Professor of Welfare Economics at the Institute of Economics, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Her research focuses on public policies, demographic changes and market problems from a gender perspective, among others.

Silvia Loli-Espinoza, Master in Management of Social Programs and Projects, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. Her research focuses on women’s rights, sexual and reproductive rights, violence against women, LGBT rights.

Miriam Pillar Grossi, Ph.D. Social Anthropology and Culture, University of París V. Professor at Departamento de Antropología of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Her research focuses on: history of women in the anthropological field, queer and feminist theories on the issues of violence against women and lesbo-trans-homophobia, LGBTTT identities, homoerotic art, religions and sexualities, public policies and women and LGBTTT’s movements.

Martha Prieto-Valdés, Ph.D., University of Havana. Professor at Departamento de Estudios Jurídicos Básicos, University of Havana. Her research focuses on: theory of the state, methodologies of legal research and constitutional law, among others.

Esteban Restrepo, J.S.D. Yale Law School. Professor at Faculty of Law, Universidad de los Andes. His research focuses on: constitutional law, constitution and democracy, theory of the state, among others.

Tracy Robinson, Senior Lecturer, Deputy Dean (Graduate Studies &; Research) University of West Indies at Manoa, Jamaica; LL.B.  Professional experience: Attorney-at-Law, Commissioner (IACHR). Her research focuses on: Family Law, Constitutional Law, Gender and Citizenship, Human Rights Law.

Ruth Rubio-Marin, Ph.D., European University Institute, Florence. Professor at the University of Sevilla and Director of the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Interculturalism of the International University of Andalucía. Her research focuses on: gender and human rights, comparative constitutional law, feminist jurisprudence, minority rights, among others.

Macarena Sáez-Tórres, LL.M. Yale Law School. Executive director of the Women's Rights Division of Human Rights Watch. Her research focuses on: sexual and reproductive rights, gender and law, sexual diversities and law, strategic litigation, among others.

Rachel Sieder, Ph.D. in Political Sciences from the London University. Professor and researcher at the Center of Research and Higher Studies on Social Anthropology (CIESAS) and Associated Research Professor at Chr. Michelsen Institute of Bergen and the Institute for the Study of the Americas at the University of London. Her research focuses on: human rights, indigenous rights, social movements, indigenous law, judicial anthropology, state and violence, among others.

María del Rocío Villanueva-Flóres, Ph.D. in Philosophy of Law, University of Castilla - La Mancha. Professor and currently Dean of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, School of Law. Her research focuses on: violence against women, human rights and gender, among others.

Yanira Reyes Gil, Co-Editor. Ph.D. in Sociology, focused in Law and Society, Family, Sex and Gender, Purdue University. Professor and Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Law, Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. Member of the ALAS Network. Her research focuses on sociology of law; gender; sexuality; constitutional right; feminist theories of law; social research methodology; critical legal studies; critical latino studies; decolonial feminism and sexual and reproductive rights.

Carmen Hein de Campos, Co-Editor. Doctorate in Criminal Sciences, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). She has been a Professor at the Centro Universitario Dos Reis, UniRitter. Member of the ALAS Network. Her research focuses on feminist criminology, violence against women, women's human rights, sexual and reproductive rights.

María Camila Correa Flórez, Co-Editor. Doctorate in Law, Cum Laude mention, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Professor at the Faculty of Jurisprudence, Universidad del Rosario. Member of the ALAS Network. Her research focuses on general criminal law, special criminal law, criminal procedure law, feminism and criminal law, international criminal law, European Union law, and transitional justice.
