Abstract

Popular legal education fostered by social movements for nearly five decades was forged as political and epistemic resistance to excluding legal knowledge. Based on two experiences in popular legal education (Popular Legal Promoters and Popular Jurists) we demonstrate that the democratization of knowledge is a powerful instrument for personal, collective and community life empowerment, instrumenting access to justice for the vulnerable population. The present work carries out action-research with a qualitative method, from a hypothetical-deductive methodology, through the techniques of historical, bibliographic and comparative research.
